DMCA and Copyright Policy

Last updated 20 October 2026 Version 1.0

Summary

How to report content that infringes your copyright, and how to respond if your content was removed.

ContentMatch respects the intellectual property rights of others. This policy explains how to report infringing material and how we handle it.

Plain-English summary: if your work has been posted here without permission, email our designated agent with the details and we will act. If your own post was removed by mistake, you can send us a counter-notice.

1. Our designated agent

Notices of claimed copyright infringement should be sent to our designated DMCA agent:

DMCA Agent, ContentMatch
Email: dmca@contentmatch.io

Email is the fastest way to reach us. Please do not send notices through in-app messages, support tickets, or social media, as they may not reach the agent responsible.

2. What must be in a takedown notice

To be effective, a written notice must include all of the following:

A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorised to act for them.

Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed. If several works are covered, a representative list will do.

Identification of the material you want removed, with enough information for us to find it, such as a link or the post title.

Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.

A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.

A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act for them.

A notice that does not contain all of this may not allow us to act.

3. What we do when we receive a valid notice

We remove or disable access to the material identified, and we tell the member who posted it, passing on your notice so they can respond.

We may also apply a strike under our Acceptable Use policy for repeat infringers.

4. Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send us a counter-notice including:

Your physical or electronic signature.

Identification of the removed material and where it appeared before removal.

A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.

Your name, address, telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of a court in the district where you live, or where ContentMatch is located if you live outside the United States, and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.

If we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore the material after a period of not less than ten business days, unless the original complainant tells us they have filed a court action.

5. Repeat infringers

Accounts that repeatedly upload infringing material are terminated. We keep a record of notices and counter-notices for this purpose.

6. Removing your own content

If you simply want your own post taken down, use the delete option on the post. That is faster than a DMCA notice and does not involve anyone else.

7. Safe harbour

ContentMatch is a service provider that hosts material posted by members. We do not review content for copyright before it is posted. We respond to valid notices in the manner described above, and we maintain this policy and a designated agent in order to qualify for the safe harbour protections of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

8. Misuse of this process

Sending a knowingly false notice, or a counter-notice you know to be false, can make you liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. Please only use this process if you genuinely believe your rights have been affected.
